Ever notice how a wig can fit someone else great, but not fit you right... even if they're the same circumference? That's because each of our heads is shaped differently. Circumference is only one measurement that affects how a cap will fit. Some people have taller heads, so ear tabs will sit too high on them, and others with shorter heads may find ear tabs to come down too far. The width of the top of the head matters too... on wider heads, some wigs will lay differently and make the hair look shorter than it looks on other people.
An important issue to remember is, that each brand can vary in cap sizes. One brand's average can fit differently than another brand's average. Many times a Large cap in certain brands may not fit as large as you'd assume, especially if their average caps run on the small side. This applies on both wefted caps and hand tied caps. Some hand tied caps, (like on synthetic wigs like RW Downtime), are very stretchy and big enough to fit a large head. But other hand-tied caps won't necessarily fit you the same.
If you have problems getting caps to fit a larger head, many times you can slightly stretch the cap by soaking the wig in water and putting it on a large mannequin or canvas block head for a couple of days. They will also stretch out and loosen up some over time & more wear.
If you have issues with caps running too large on you, there are many wigs available in a Small or Petite size cap. Our human hair wigs can be ordered in Small and Extra Small caps. But if you can't find a style you like in small, there are methods to alter the cap to make it smaller by sewing wefts together, either top to bottom or side to side. You can find many videos on YouTube with instructions on how to alter your cap.
The cap size chart below is for our Budget Babes standard 13x6" lace top cap. Each of our lines have different caps that each have their own size chart. Please refer to the specific wig page at the bottom of the description for the size chart for that particular wig.
